Kunjungan Hormat Alumni Graduan Institusi Korea (AGIKO) Kepada YAB Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, Perdana Menteri Malaysia

PUTRAJAYA – SELASA, 11 Jun 2019 – Delegasi kepimpinan Alumni Graduan Institusi Korea (AGIKO) yang diketuai oleh presidennya Encik Zamri bin Abbas telah mengadakan sesi Kunjungan Hormat kepada YAB Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, Perdana Menteri Malaysia bertempat di Pejabat Perdana Menteri, Bangunan Perdana Putra, Putrajaya yang turut dihadiri oleh YBhg. Prof. Dato’ Ts. Dr. Rosli bin Abu Bakar dari Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP).

Antara intipati sesi kunjungan hormat ini adalah seperti berikut:

  • Menyampaikan penghargaan dan tanda terima kasih pihak AGIKO serta memperkenalkan barisan Exco AGIKO yang baru kepada YAB Tun yang mengasaskan Dasar Pandang Ke Timur, khususnya ke Korea Selatan;
  • Menjemput kehadiran YAB Tun dan YABhg. Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Haji Mohd Ali ke Majlis Pelancaran AGIKO Kebangsaan yang dijadual akan diadakan pada bulan Oktober 2019;
  • Memaklumkan dan menerangkan peranan AGIKO berhubung penubuhan Malaysia Korea Technical Institute (MKTI) yang bukan sahaja terbuka untuk pelajar-pelajar tempatan, malahan pengambilan pelajar akan diperluaskan ke seluruh negara anggota ASEAN sejajar dengan kerjasama ASEAN – Korea Selatan.
    Perancangan MKTI ini menepati matlamat Dasar Pandang Ke Timur yang diasaskan sendiri oleh YAB Tun pada tahun 1982 dan Dasar Selatan Baharu yang dilancarkan oleh Korea Selatan pada tahun 2017;
  • Memaklumkan status terkini para pelajar tajaan Jabatan Perkhidmatan Awam (JPA) yang telah menamatkan pengajian seramai 2,888 orang berdasarkan statistik dari tahun 1985 hingga 2018 serta para pelajar dari sumber biasiswa atau pinjaman agensi lain yang telah menyumbang dan mencurahkan bakti kepada negara; dan
  • Memaklumkan berkenaan bekas-bekas pelajar yang telah berjaya dalam bidang pendidikan, keusahawanan dan pemindahan teknologi melalui usahasama dengan syarikat-syarikat gergasi dari Korea Selatan, di samping dapat menyediakan peluang pekerjaan kepada rakyat Malaysia.

Diharapkan kerjasama dan hubungan yang baik ini dapat diteruskan demi memastikan Dasar Pandang Ke Timur terus kekal dan dapat memberi manfaat yang besar kepada seluruh warga Malaysia.

Korean Institution Graduate Alumni Association (AGIKO) visit to YAB Tun Dr Mahathir, Prime Minister of Malaysia

PUTRAJAYA – Tuesday, 11th June 2019 – The leadership committee of Korea Institution Graduate Alumni Association (AGIKO) led by the President, Mr. Zamri bin Abbas had paid a courtesy visit to the Malaysia Prime Minister, YAB Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad at the Prime Minister’s Office in Putrajaya today. Also attending, YBhg. Prof. Dato’ Ts. Dr. Rosli bin Abu Bakar from Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP).

The essence of this courtesy visit is as follows:

  • To express appreciation and gratitude to YAB Tun Dr Mahathir who is the mastermind of the Look East Policy, especially to South Korea, and to introduce the newly appointed AGIKO’s Executive Committee (Exco) members;
  • To invite YAB Tun dan YABhg. Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Haji Mohd Ali to AGIKO’s official launching event in October 2019;
  • To inform and explain the role of AGIKO on the establishment of the Malaysia Korea Technical Institute (MKTI) which is not only opened to local students, but will also include student enrollment across ASEAN member countries in collaboration with ASEAN – South Korea
  • This MKTI plan is in line with the goals of the Look East Policy founded by YAB Tun in 1982 and the New Southern Policy launched by South Korea in 2017;
  • To update the current status of Public Service Department (PSD) sponsored students where 2,888 students have graduated based on statistics from 1985 to 2018 as well as students from other scholarships programs who have contributed to the country; and
  • To share the success of the former students in education, entrepreneurship and technology transfer fields through partnerships with major companies from South Korea, while providing employment opportunities to Malaysians.

It is hoped that this good cooperation and relationship can be continued to ensure that the Look East Policy remains and will be of great benefit to all Malaysians.
